Today's post is just a summation of all the bright and amazing people, places, and lessons, that sprung after this former photo. Rewind to the time where I wasn't feeling so crusty and cold in mid-December, I tell you I was ready to get back to the grind.
I very much like a routine, I like the ability to organize and artistically regroup my thoughts and ideas. It is always a process. I don't think I will ever be able to see anything as complete which I guess counts as lesson #1.
so I guess we are getting into that right now...
lesson no. 1, yes I have learned to dismiss the idea of perfect results. I've addressed this several times on the blog but I am always expanding on this. When speaking of perfection this stems from a need to have a perfect work, life, balance, and just feel great all the time. However, we should choose the path of least resistance. Instead of resisting mistakes and shortcomings, or negative feelings it is best to recognize them for what they are. And once we do we can figure out how to work with them and how to process it.
We may be turbulent creatures but perhaps that is what can make the process interesting. I've developed a system that puts me back on track every time. It doesn't promise that these momentary doubts or sad emotions will never reoccur, but it is a way to stabilize unsteadiness.
I don't know where I came up with this but one day I decided to type instead of write everything out. I then started typing emails addressed to myself and would give them different subject titles which would be thematic to the issue I was dealing with. I can now say that I have a year's worth of emails. They are comprised of motivational pep talks, day to day challenges, but most importantly, the struggles I overcame. I found it so neat that I can look back a year ago to a filed event and see how I perceived the world at that point in time and how I perceive the world now. It is very comforting to look back and see actual evidence of an adverse time that eventually healed itself.
lesson no. 2, prioritizing!!! that is prioritizing what it is YOU care about and what you have time to care about, then owning that and giving those things your undivided attention. So at the end of the day if you have a whole catalog of things you feel responsible for, you shouldn't feel bad because you have a purpose behind the things your working towards. The rest will eventually follow.
lesson no. 3 We can do hard things. We can challenge ourselves knowing we will find a way to bridge the storm.
Fall 2019 its a wrap!
